CORE Success Parent2Youth Sports Project: ACVB Kid's Day/Dia das Crianças
The Parent 2 Youth Sports Project is a CDI initiative designed to engage parents in the community with youth around personal development through sports. CDI works with Associaçao Cabo Verdiana de Basquetbol (ACVB) and the Pedro Pires Institute for Cape Verdean Studies to execute the Kid's Day/Dias das Crianças event at Bridgewater State University.
This event is designed to engage with youth, ages 3 to 17, in a variety of basketball activities with the plans of reinforcing essential life skills and leadership development values. This event was recently held in May of 2017, with the goal of making it an annual community event.

Like the CORE Success Mini-Scholars Basketball Camp, the Young Scholars Basketball Camp builds off of tenets embedded in the CORE Success Program with an added focus on athletics and fitness through basketball. This camp is designed for a slightly older group- children ages 10-12 years of age. Participants will learn teamwork, value of exercise, fundamentals of basketball, and more importantly they will learn valuable life skills needed in becoming responsible young leaders in society.
CORE Success BasicsEDU Project
With the BasicsEDU Project, our goal is to partner with small community organizations, academic enrichment programs and schools to provide various school supplies, such as notebooks, folders, legal pads, pens, pencils, erasers, and binders to help their students acquire resources they need to work towards their academic goals. We understand that purchasing supplies for school can pose a financial challenge for some low income families, and our goal is to assist in meeting that need.
